Find out what I’m currently reading, what I’ve just finished reading, and what I’m planning to read next in WWW Wednesday.

Welcome to WWW Wednesday! This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and revived by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. I saw this on Emma’s blog and decided to join in.

Just answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments.

No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses. Please take some time to visit the other participants and see what others are reading.

The three Ws are:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

(You can see my last WWW Wednesday, from 1st November, here.)

What are you currently reading?

At the moment I’m listening to The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton on audiobook. I’ve had a few long train journeys, and always listen to audiobooks while driving or doing housework, so I’ve almost finished this now. I watched the TV adaptation a few years ago and loved it, and so while the story isn’t a surprise, I am absolutely loving it.

What did you recently finish reading?

I finished Assistant to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer at the weekend. It feels more like a young adult book from the tone and the main character, Evie Sage, who is incredibly naïve and immature. She falls over all the time, is happy and perky all the time, and hates Rebecca the Office Manager. She just reads more like a teen than a grown adult. And of course, she has no issue with her boss, The Villain, murdering people. It was a light read and I didn’t hate it, but gave it two stars.

Before that, I finished The Book of Joan by Lidia Yuknavitch recently, which was another two stars. I really didn’t enjoy it. The writing is beautiful but I just didn’t really enjoy the story, the characters or the premise.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I am still continuing with my reads for the Self-Published Sci-Fi Competition, and hope to have finished these in the next week or so, so that we can make our announcements… I’ve been quite busy recently so while I have a bunch of library books that I want to finish, this is taking my focus for now! Next on the list is Chrom Y Returns by L.V. Ditchkus, which currently has just 3 reviews on Goodreads.
