Find out what I’m currently reading, what I’ve just finished reading, and what I’m planning to read next in WWW Wednesday.

Welcome to WWW Wednesday! This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and revived by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. I saw this on Emma’s blog and decided to join in.

Just answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments.

No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses. Please take some time to visit the other participants and see what others are reading.

The three Ws are:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

I’m currently reading Winterlight by Kirsten Britain, as an audiobook. This is the seventh book in the Green Rider series. The Green Rider series follows Karigan, a messenger for King Zachary in the world of Sacoridia. I originally picked them up because of the gorgeous covers, and Winterlight is no exception! Since I read the first five books 10+ years ago, more books have been released, so I am slowly reading through them. You can find my review of the first book in the series, Green Rider, on my blog.

I’m also reading (as a paperback) Life and Otter Miracles by Hazel Prior. It’s set in Devon and follows Phoebe and her father Al after their move to Devon. They find an abandoned otter cub while out walking, and this changes their lives forever as they get involved with the local otter sanctuary. Phoebe is 19 and has chronic pain. So far, I am really enjoying this — it’s very cozy and filled with otters, and Phoebe’s struggles are really sensitively written.

What did you recently finish reading?

I have just finished the previous book in the Green Rider series, The Dream Gatherer. This is a collection of three short stories. My favourite was the title novella, The Dream Gatherer, which is set in Sacoridia and follows on directly from book six, Firebrand. It follows Karigan’s best friend, Estral, as she makes a visit to the mysterious Berry sisters, who we met in Green Rider and I was hoping to see again.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I have a few very anticipated books due back at the library on Friday so I want to try and read them before they go back!

Chain-Gang All-Stars by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah, which sounds like a modern The Running Man. Two top women gladiators fight for their freedom within a depraved private prison system not so far-removed from America’s own.

Walk the Vanished Earth by Erin Swan, a dystopian novel told from multiple points of view in different time periods — 1873, 1975, 2027 and 2073. It is apparently reminiscent of Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel, which I read earlier this year and was a five star read. So I have high hopes for this!
