The window in the stairwell at the Pusheen cafe

Just before it closed at the end of January, I was able to visit the Pusheen x ARTBOX Café in Brighton!

Pusheen the Cat is one of my favourite characters! I was subscribed to the Pusheen subscription box for many years and have several t-shirts, plushes and vinyl figurines. The Pusheen x ARTBOX Café opened in Brighton on August 2019 and closed on 30th January 2020. I was delighted to be invited to visit it with Dann and Jupiter before it closed!

The ARTBOX Café is really easy to find, located in East Street in the Lanes in Brighton.

About my visit

While it was only open a short time it had several different themes. When we visited, it had the Winter Wonderland theme. This meant a different menu and super cute winter-themed pictures of Pusheen and friends on the walls!

The Snack Parlour and store is over two floors. The ground floor is an ice cream and hot drink takeaway counter, offering a huge range of different ice creams. Some of the flavours available when we visited were Pumpkin Spice, Christmas Pudding and Mince Pie! The other half of the ground floor was a Pusheen store. This sold everything Pusheen you could dream of! There was lots of jewellery, plushes, socks, and more. Some of the merchandise was exclusive to the store or USA exclusives.

So many items caught my eye! I bought a mug, a pair of Pusheenicorn socks and a “hey!” necklace. As I was going to the Snack Parlour upstairs and spent over £15 on merchandise, I also received a free pencil tin. You can also get one from their website at the moment if you spend over £25!

About the café

I had a Hot Cocoa Sundae and a hot chocolate, which came to £15.

The Hot Cocoa Sundae was created to look like a hot chocolate. It had warm brownie pieces at the bottom, with chocolate and salted caramel ice cream, topped with cookies and cream ice cream, whipped cream, and sprinkles and marshmallows. It came with a super cute cardboard Pusheen on the top (which I kept!)

Like the sundae, the hot chocolate came with a cardboard Pusheen on top, and the biscuit also had Pusheen on it which was a cute touch! It had lots of whipped cream, marshmallows and sprinkles, as well as a small slice of brownie and a strawberry.

A really nice touch was that everyone received a free coaster as a thank you. It’s similar to a beer mat, made from cardboard, but what a lovely little gesture and souvenir.

Planning your visit

The Pusheen x ARTBOX café has sadly now closed. However, it will be re-opening shortly with a new character. ARTBOX has the UK license for characters such as Hello Kitty, Moomin, Snoopy and Little Twin Stars, so I am very excited to see what the new character will be! Visit the ARTBOX website for directions, opening times and to find out who the new character will be.

ARTBOX also has a store in Covent Garden in London for all of their characters — visit their website for directions and opening times.
